Proud about the Egyptian climate champions who contribute to facing the challenges of climate change in various fields. And shed light on the practical support and assistance of USAID
Like many farmers across the globe, Mohamed is experiencing firsthand the effects of climate change on the quality and quantity of his mango harvest. After years selling mangos at local traditional markets for a limited profit, Mohamed attended the farmer field schools provided by the Riad El Saleheen Community Development Association, in partnership with the USAID-funded Feed the Future Egypt Rural Agribusiness Strengthening Project, and upgraded his farming business.
Working with USAID, Mango farmers in Aswan learned how to reduce the damaging effects of climate change. They began implementing a program that supports balanced fertilization and modern irrigation management techniques to conserve water during periods of temperature fluctuation and protect their crops during sandstorms and heavy rains.
USAID supports smallholder farmers like Mohamed to adapt to the impacts of climate change — protecting their livelihoods and strengthening Egypt’s food security.
