CairoComix festival is about the evolution of the independent art movement in Egypt and more broadly the Middle East and North Africa region, where comics as a popular medium has many synergies with other creative art forms like street art, animation cinema, video art and graphic design, and where artists often cross over between disciplines. CairoComix is an artistic celebration that also brings the Egyptian public together with local and international comics artists and provides for the first time many prizes like Best Published Graphic Novel in Arabic.
يهتم مهرجان كايروكوميكس بشكل خاص بتطور الحركة المستقلة لفن القصص المصورة في مصر وعلى نطاق أوسع في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا حيث تمثل القصص المصورة شكلا شعبيًا وفناً موازيًا لوسائط إبداعية آخرى مثل فنون الشارع والتحريك والسينما وفنون الفيديو والتصميم الجرافيكي وأيضًا حيث يهتم عادة فنانوه بواحد أو أكثر من هذه الفنون. يعتبر كايروكوميكس بمثابة احتفالية فنية تجمع جمهور القراء برسامين وكتّاب هذا الفن سواء المحليين منهم أو العالميين في لقاء مباشر لا يتكرر عادة، بخلاف تقديم جوائز عديدة مثل جائزة أفضل رواية مصورة عربية.
