48/fest is a movie-making challenge, organized by UNFPA. The objective of 48Hour Fest is to give an opportunity to young people to share their perspectives on controversial issues related to their life, health and well-being, through self-developed stories and videos.
In 2014, for the first time, the competition was organized regionally, between 3-6 April in Cairo, with participation from most of countries in the Arab States region. The theme was ‘The Future We Want’, engaging young people on the discussion related to their future, within the context of the post-2015 development agenda.
250 stories were submitted and the jury chose the best 25 submissions and top 5 stories and invited the applicants for 48/fest. Following a 2-day workshop on both movie making and SRH, HIV/AIDS, gender and youth; the five teams recorded, edited and finalized the movies in 48 hours. The top 3 movies, selected by the jury are featured globally.
