Marking the founding of the UN on October 24th in 1945, the United Nations (UN) in Egypt will be celebrating UN Day with a fair on Thursday, October 23rd at the Fish Garden in Zamalek from 2pm to 6pm.
The event will highlight the stories and successes of beneficiaries of UN in Egypt projects. The event is free and open to the public. Beneficiaries will sell handicrafts and food as well as share their stories, showcasing UN-supported projects. Experts will be present to speak to the media and the public on development issues. Musical performances will take place throughout the day. Featured bands and artists include Wust El-Balad and Zap Tharwat.
The event will include a photo and video competition. Videographers are to document the UN Day celebration in a one to five minute video. Videos are to be posted by October 26th on Twitter with the following tags: #UNDayEG and @UNEgypt. Photos are to be posted on Twitter during the event with the same tags:#UNDayEG and @UNEgypt. The winners will receive a certificate of recognition from the UN in Egypt and exposure through UN social media platforms. To encourage both professional and amateur submissions, mobile and professional camera footage will be accepted.
